There are many joys of being a nursing student and working closely with patients. Sometimes all you can do is laugh at and with them.
Recently one of my classmates was taking care of a very mobile patient with a sense of humor.
In the hospital we were at, there are little pop-out doors to access the linens and trash can from the hallway. Next to these doors are desks for the nurses and doctors to work at before or after being in the patient’s room. This specific patient thought it was a great idea to pull out the cans and hide in that little cubby hole. Occasionally he would pop out into the hallway or grab the leg of the poor victim sitting at the desk.
We knew it was time for him to go home.
